Waimea Village is a lifestyle village located in Richmond, Nelson and has no minimum age for moving in. People purchase their house outright in Waimea Village, and pay a monthly share of outgoings (currently $100 per month) to cover grounds upkeep. Owners may then sell their villa when they want at the price they want. There is no 'claw-back' by the village.

There's an $8200 share cost on top of the purchase, which gives a share of ownership in the village which sometimes pays a dividend. When you sell your house you sell the share at the same going rate to the next purchaser.

Houses are only advertised (by the seller) when they are available for sale (or rent).

A comfortable, secure close knit affordable housing environment extremely governed by a Board, supported by an excellent Manager. An active committee providing some social events and entertainment. Bear in mind it is not a retirement village where every thing is done for you, as with your own home the choice of what and when is yours.

Cons

The negativity of a minor few who seem to thrive on attempting to unsettle others.

Waimea Village is NOT a retirement. Village. It is a privately owned low cost housing development suited more to older leaseholders as houses are small and close together. The preference is for owner occupied . It is peaceful, quiet and handy to shopping centre.
